"My Eight Year Quest for the Holy Grail of Coffee" I am a registered nurse who attended an international medical conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 1998.  This was my first visit to Europe and I was excited to see the sights and visit all the museums, which I did.  But what really stood out for me was the coffee.  I had never tasted such creamy, smooth, delicious coffee.  I questioned all the baristas, "what makes your coffee so good?".  I was a Starbucks fan from Canada but the coffee in Switzerland was the best I ever tasted.  The baristas in Switzerland replied: "It's the beans, the blends, and the Nespresso machine which is different from the Canadian Espresso machines."  I wanted a Nespresso machine but was not able to access one due to no contacts in Switzerland.  I then started my quest to attempt to replicate the taste.  I went to all the high end coffee shops in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  I went Downtown, on to Commercial drive and to Kitsilano - I requested espresso's, latte's, cappuccino's, long espresso's, blends of espresso's, coffee with water, coffee with milk and all possible combinations.  I experimented at home with my own beans, blends and machines but did not get it right either.  I could not duplicate the creamy smooth taste of Swiss coffee.  As I had over the past eight years exhausted all recipes, blends and machines to create the perfect cup of coffee, I dreamed of returning to Switzerland to experience the coffee again as I felt my quest for the holy grail of coffee would never come true in Canada. In July 2006 an article appeared in the Vancouver Sun the West Coast Life Restaurant guide describing "Swica" importers who specialized in the ultimate Swiss coffee solution using Nespresso machines.  My heart rate went through the roof.  I shouted to my husband, "My quest has ended, I can get Swiss coffee in Canada, let's find it!".  The Vancouver Sun did not list phone numbers or a website.  We called information for Vancouver but no phone number was available.  I was frantic, no numbers, no contacts and meanwhile, my mouth was salivating for that coffee.  At last, a goggle search online located Swica at www.swicaimporters.ca  I talked to Marco Herrmann, the Swica representative and he came down to Vancouver Native Health Society with his Nespresso machine and served coffee to staff and myself.  I was in heaven.  I finally had the creamy, delicious and smooth coffee that I had longed for for the past eight years.  I was in coffee heaven!  My staff also tasted the coffee and judged it the best ever.   I did buy a Nespresso machine with the beautiful Swiss blends/pods of coffee.  I am happy that my quest has ended.  I will enjoy Swiss coffee and Nespresso for years!  My husband, who did not drink coffee in the last 53 years, now loves his Swiss coffee from Nespresso.
